How To Create Sexy Biz Goals You Are Excited About

I was in corporate for over 20 years and I never really felt like I fit in because I never felt like I could be myself. You're sitting behind your little cubicle behind your computer and you’re doing what you do all day. This is fine for a lot of people, but I knew that I wanted more. I was definitely the most authentically “me” person, I think in the whole building.

I've said this before that I don't pretend to be anybody that I'm not. There are times when you show up differently in different situations and you're like quieter than you normally would be, or because the situation calls for it, right. I'm always led though, by how I feel. I can feel other people's energy very easily. So, I do have to protect my own.

Being in corporate, I saw a lot of people really stressed out all the time including me. I chose not to be stressed anymore because it doesn't serve me, my life, or my business. But working in Corporate, they tend to put you in this little box. You have to dress and act a certain way. I never felt like I could show up and be myself. This led to people not taking me seriously a lot of times. 

One of the big “whys” of what I do is to be able to be myself and be authentic. When I started my business, I wanted it to be fun. You get into your business and you sometimes we feel like you have to be a certain way for other people to like us, or for other people to resonate with us, but this is total bullshit.

Importance of Business Goals

One of the things that we need to have in our business are goals. We need to know what the hell we’re working towards. A lot of people get stuck in that goal. For me, I was always stuck in the “how.” How am I going to get to this place? What do I need to do to get there? Many other entrepreneurs can relate. 

I decided to create a game out of my business and my goals because I want to live a life I enjoy. I want to live my life feeling free, which is why a lot of us started our business. We didn’t start our business so we could sit at a desk and sit behind a computer all day and work for somebody else and then come home and work on our business for another 12 hours. We lose our joy of why we wanted to become an entrepreneur in the first place. 

Your life in your business is determined by the quality of the questions that you ask. For example, when you ask yourself, why sometime isn’t working or why something is happening to you, this brings your vibe down and drains your energy. Your questions should empower you to find a solution. So, ask yourself a different question. 

If the questions you're asking yourself right now, are draining you and are feeling heavy when you ask them, you need to change the question. 

Figure out how to make this fun. How will you reach your goals? How can you set the goals so that you can’t freakin wait to show up and make it easy, fun, simple and exciting?

Sexy Goal Method

A goal is an indicator for the game that you're going to create. It's like the last piece of the pie in Trivial Pursuit. You should expect to hit little road bumps and everything won’t always be flowers and glitter and fucking unicorns, right.

Thank of your business as the board of your game. Now, you get to choose what piece you want to be and how you’re going to play the game.

What do you want to buy and invest in? Kind of like a Monopoly board. If you get that jail card, it sends you to another place and you’re stuck for a while. So, you keep looking for the get out of jail free card or pay the $200 to get out, right?

Whether you're trying to fill a program, launching a new product or service or you're creating a promotion, your goals should identify the level at which you need to show up.

Are you playing a smaller game in the next 30 days or are you playing a bigger game? Whatever your next level is, you should be going all in and decide what you’re going to do. 

Whether you're playing, that small short-term goal, or you're playing the long term pro goal, just remember that your goals do not have to be big, and they do not have to be better than others.

Ask yourself, what does your business want? What do you want your business to look like? It doesn't matter if you hit those 3k months in 30 days or in six months or a year or two years, three years or 10 years.

This is how you create your game. You choose how you play. You choose where or what you’re gonna play. The end is when you hit that goal. 

For example, if you want to hit consistent 3k months in six months, you have to break it down and ask yourself what you need to do to hit that?

Remember this is your game. It helps you to determine what you need to do or how you need to show up to play the game. Even if you don't hit the goal it doesn't really matter. If you don’t reach your goal it doesn’t mean you failed. 

Ask yourself if you did everything you said you were gonna do. Did you play it all out? 

Many of us get stuck in breaking down the goals. We get so attached to the outcome that we forget to celebrate what we did achieve.

So when you set that big, crazy goal that probably feels uncomfortable, if your goal feels heavy, If you're telling yourself when you write the goal, I am never going to hit this goal, then change your goal. You’re already self-sabotaging yourself by telling yourself that you can't reach the goal. Your goal should be a little bit uncomfortable. Your goal should feel a little bit out of reach.

Your goal needs to push you to show up to do the dang things and to be like, “hell yes!”

Let's not self-sabotage ourselves. Let's find the goal that feels good.

Set a a 30-day or 90-day goal and then take actions to actually reach those goals and remember that if you don't get to that goal, by the time you want, then it's okay. It's not a big deal. I'm gonna tell you why.

Because I'll bet you that on your way to get to that goal, a few different things happened. You learned things. You stepped into an uplevel the version of yourself to start to take the actions to reach the goal. You showed up in a way that you have never showed up before and no matter what, you're always going to be further along than when you started.

Always. Why?

Because you took action and did something.

Because you took inspired, intentional aligned action with that goal to reach it consistently.

So, if you don't reach your goal when you said you would, it’s not a big deal. You keep going until you reach the goal. Stop putting yourself in a position that if you don't hit a goal by a certain time that you failed or feel like you’re not good enough. Because you absolutely are. You are good enough, you are worthy enough; you are enough. You just need to keep going.

If we as entrepreneurs, said fuck this and threw the towel in every time it got hard, there would never be an entrepreneur ever. Ever. I don’t know how many times I've said to myself, “Oh my god, like why am I doing this”?

Every time you uplevel yourself, all the new all the shit that you thought that you dealt with pops up again in a different way. Our fear and self-sabatoge doesn’t go away, but now you can see it faster.

Like, when you were a baby, you don't remember this, but I’m sure you never thought walking is too hard or crawling is too hard, but you learned how to do it and you kept at it until you did it.

We can all go back to that baby stage because babies don't know how to fail. So, there was a point in your life that you didn't know what failure was.

You just knew you wanted to do something, and you kept doing things until you did it. So, there's absolutely no reason that you can't do that now.

Breaking Down the Sexy Goal Method

  • S stands for simple. Simple doesn't mean easy. Simple means simple. For example, I'm going to start 100 conversations this month, or I'm going to book two new clients this month. Those are very simple statements.

The difference between that simple statement and you reaching your goal is the story that you’re attaching to your goal. That’s it. How you perceive that goal and the story you tell yourself about that goal is the only difference between you're reaching it and you're not reaching it.

So, think about that simple goal. What do you want?

What do you want to do? Write it down. Do you want to do this in 30 days, 60 days, 90 days in a year? What is it that you want? No judgments, no attachments, no stories, no bullshit, No. Nothing. A sentence is all you need to write and take the emotion out of it.

  • E – executable. As for executable, you need to be able to execute on this goal. You need to know that there are actions that you will take to get to the goal. Break your goal down into steps. \

 

  • X is for exciting. Your goals should be fun and exciting. If you’re wondering what’s so exciting about having a goal like, to create 100 conversations this month, it shouldn’t be you “have” to, it should be, you “want” to create 100 conversations this month. Because it's exciting, right?

  • Y stands for the word “why?” Why do you want this goal? Why are you trying to create 100 conversations this month? Is it to create 100 conversations this month so that you can get, 20 or 30 of those people into your sphere of influence or into your group or email list? All of these things are gonna happen anyways when you create conversations, so why do you want the goal? 

When creating your sexy goals, ask yourself, is it simple? It should be a one-line statement. Is it executable? Can I take steps towards this goal every day and be consistent about it? Is it exciting? If you don't feel like it's super exciting when you write the goal, how can you make it exciting?

You can make it exciting by thinking about all the things that could happen while you’re trying to reach this goal. 

Last, your why. Why do you want the goal? What is it about that goal that is going to get you so pumped? If you want that 250k in 12 months, what are you gonna do with that $250,000 when you get it? Are you gonna take your family on vacation? Are you going to take yourself on vacation? Why do you want that goal? And yeah, that is about you.

So, go forth and write your sexiest fuck goals.
